The atrocities on women continue to prevail in the nation despite the strict laws.
One such incident which has sparked nationwide outrage is a video from Manipur which has emerged in the social media where two women, one in her 20s and other in her 40s are being paraded naked and sexually assaulted by a mob.
Not just one but several young men can be seen walking alongside the men dragging the distressed-looking women naked into the fields, sexually assaulting them.
Reportedly, the two women belong to the Kuki-Zomi community and the assault took place in Kangpokpi district on May 4, a day after clashes erupted between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
According to a police complaint by the relatives of the women, the woman in her 20s was brutally gang raped in broad daylight.
“Manipur’s Police were present there, but they didn’t help us,” said one of the women.
While the other one said that she saw four policemen sitting in the car, looking at the violence but inspite of that, they didn’t do anything to help them.
Her father and brother were killed in this mob attack, she added.
According to the latest reports, four main accused including the main culprit 32-year-old Huirem Herodas Meitei in the horrific Manipur viral video case, arrested.
"Four main accused arrested in the Viral Video Case : 03 (three) more main accused of the heinous crime of abduction and gangrape under Nongpok Sekmai PS, Thoubal District have been arrested today. So total 04 (four) persons have been arrested till now," tweeted the Manipur Police.
It added that the state police is making all efforts to arrest the other culprits at the earliest.

Speaking to PTI about the viral video of two women being paraded naked, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said "I felt so bad after watching that video, it's crime against humanity. I condemned it and directed the police to take action against the perpetrators. We will make efforts for capital punishment."
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I am filled with pain and the incident is shameful for any civil society. No accused will be spared, we will never forgive those who are behind this."
"This is a shameful incident for any society, who did this and who is responsible..that's there...but this has put our nation to shame. I appeal to all chief ministers to tighten the law and order especially for our mothers and sisters," he added.
The PM said strict actions must be taken against such crimes whether it is in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh or Manipur.
"The issue of a woman's honor is above all politics. The culprits behind the heinous crime done with the daughters of Manipur will never be forgiven, he said.
According to news agency ANI, the government has issued an order to Twitter and other social media platforms, to not share the viral video of the two Manipuri women being paraded nude.
"It is imperative for social media platforms to adhere to Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation," stated the report.
Not just the politicians but Bollywood celebrities have come forward and reacted to the viral video.
