YouTube announces new monetization policy; YouTubers can now earn money with just 500 subscribers.
In a move to support smaller creators, popular online video sharing and social media platform has changed their policy for users to earn money.
With the new policy, the YouTube Partner Program will be accessible to YouTube creators with just 500 subscribers which was earlier 1000.
Apart from this, the announcement also stated that the watch hour which was earlier 4,000 has now been reduced to 3,000.
Similarly, the requirement for Shorts views has been reduced from 10 million to 3 million.
However, the new updates will initially be implemented in six countries- United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Even though smaller creators will now have more opportunities to monetize their content on YouTube, they will still need to grow their audience to earn from ad revenue.
It said that the revenue sharing guidelines will remain unchanged.
Not just YouTube, other platforms such as Tiktok have also recently announced more ways for its users to monetize their content such as it extended its video paywall feature, Series, to creators with 10,000 followers but added that users with 1,000 followers who met other requirements could also apply to participate in the programme, as reported by CNBCtv18.
