Tragic assassination of former MLA Yumsen Matey shocks Arunachal Pradesh
Khonsa, 16th Dec'2023 – In a shocking and tragic incident, former MLA Yumsen Matey, a prominent political figure from the 56 Khonsa West Constituency (Arunachal Pradesh), was assassinated yesterday in a grim event that has shaken the State.
According to reports, Yumsen Matey, known for his influential role in state politics, was visiting Raho village in Lazu circle, close to the Indo-Myanmar border, for personal work. He was accompanied by three of his workers. At approximately 2:00 pm, under mysterious circumstances, an unidentified individual led Matey into the nearby jungle, while his workers were left behind.
The situation took a horrifying turn when, after about 30 minutes, the workers reported hearing gunshots from the direction where Matey had been taken. The assailants are believed to have fled towards Myanmar, leaving behind a trail of questions and fear. The identity and motives behind this heinous act remain unknown.
Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Lazu Police Station. Tirap Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is being conducted with utmost diligence and effort to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.
