Family of four including a six month old baby burnt to death over property inheritance dispute in Rajasthan by 19 year old relative.

A family of four members, including a six month old toddler was murdered by 19 year old boy and later, was set ablaze at their home in Cherai village in the Ramnagar Gram Panchayat of Osia area of Rajasthan's Jodhpur district on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the 19 year old boy identified as Pappuram who is the nephew of the head of the family of four has been arrested.

A case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Pappuram.

During the interrogation, Pappuram admitted to killing of his uncle's family over an old property dispute between his father and uncle, reported the Hindustan Times.

The report said, the property in question was owned by two other uncles, one of whom died while the other was unmarried, of the accused.

The accused said he believed his uncles would get the entire ancestral property and that his brother had died under suspicious circumstances eight months back in Surat, adding he suspects the victim Poonaram behind his brother's death.

The deceased have been identified as Punaram (60) and his wife Bhanwari Devi (55), who were reportedly sleeping on a cot outside the house while their daughter-in-law Dhapu (25) and her toddler daughter Manisha who is said to be around 6 months were sleeping in the hut while the horrific incident took place.

Reports said that the accused first slit the throat of the four people and dragged them outside at the courtyard and set them ablaze.

The SP said inspite of the arrest, they are still investigating the case to confirm the exact reason and also if someone else was involved in the crime.

The incident have sparked a political row, with the ruling BJP party slamming the Congress and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot questioning the "law and order in the state".

“If this is the CM’s district one can image the situation in the rest of the state,” Rajasthan BJP president CP Joshi said. “There is no law and order. Criminals are roaming fearless, crimes against women are rising… Rajasthan which was once a peaceful state has become a hub of crime.”

While the Congress slams back stating, the Congress at least didn't take around 77 days to catch the culprit unlike the Manipur viral incident.
