State President, BJP Assam Pradesh Bhabesh Kalita on 77th Independence Day unfurls the National flag upside down at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday.

However, the flag was later fixed in the correct way after it was noticed that the being unfurled in an inverted way. 

Speaking to the reporters, Kalita said, "The workers who were responsible for placing the flag for hoisting didn't know that it was set upside down. This is why, it was unfurled in an inverted manner without our knowledge."

The incident sparked controversy among the netizens slamming the politician as well as the party for being irresponsible on such an important day. 

Kalita had hoisted the flag with the green color on the top side while the correct way to hoist the flag is to unfurl it vice versa i.e., the saffron part of the flag should fly high instead of the green one.
