Tanzanian air plane crashes into Africa's largest lake, Lake Victoria.

A Tanzanian passenger plane,  called Precision Air flight crashed into Lake Victoria while landing in the lakeside town  airport of Bukoba.

According to the news Agency, Reuters, as  many as 43 passengers were on board when the crash took place and at least three people were killed.

The reason behind the crash is said to be bad weather i.e., the incident occurred amidst storms and heavy rains confirmed the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation.

According to latest reports by Precision Air rescue operations are still on and the number of fatalities are yet to be confirmed by them.

According to reports, immediately after the crash, the plane was seen completely submerged into the lake with only the brown and green tail fin visible above the water line of the lake.

President of Tanzania, Samla Suluhu Hassan took to her Twitter handle and wrote,

"Let's continue to be calm while the rescue operation continues as we pray to God to help us." 

According to reports by SkyNews, Kagera province police commander William Mwampaghale told the media that they have managed to save quite a number of people.

"When the aircraft was about 100 metres (328ft) midair, it encountered problems and bad weather. It was raining and the plane plunged into the water. Everything is under control," he added.

Precision Air is the largest private airline in Tanzania and is partly owned by Kenya Airways. Founded in 1993, it operates both domestic and regional flights.
