Seven teachers from Northeast India conferred with National Awards to Teachers 2022
On the occasion of India’s 50th National Teachers Day celebration, seven teachers from Northeast India were conferred with National Awards to Teachers 2022, today on 5 September at
The seven teachers are –
Meenakshi Goswami, Principal, CNS Higher Secondary School, District- Sonitpur, Assam
Nongmaithem Gautam Singh, Teacher, Eastern Ideal High School, District, Imphal East, Manipur
Gamchi Timre R. Marak, Head Teacher, Educere Higher Secondary School, District- East Garo Hills, Meghalaya.
Mimi Yhoshii, Head Teacher, GMS Officers Hill, District- Kohima, Nagaland.
Mala Jigdal Dorjee, Principal, Modern Senior Secondary School, Gangtok, Sikkim.
Sidharth Yonzone, Principal, Eklavya Model Residential School, District- Gyalshing, Sikkim
Santosh Nath, Acting Head Teacher, South Mirzapur High School, District-South Tripura, Tripura.
According to the official list of the awardee, released by the Ministry of Education, there are in total of 46 selected awardee teachers, however, 45 teachers were conferred with the National Awards to Teachers 2022 by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
As per PIB, speaking on the occasion, the President remembered her teachers and said that they not only taught her but also gave her love and inspiration. On the strength of the guidance of her family and teachers, she became the first daughter of her village to attend college. She said that she always feels indebted to her teachers for whatever she has achieved in life.
The award consists of a certificate of merit, a cash award of fifty thousand rupees, and a silver medal.
National Awards to Teachers was started in the year 1958.
According to the official website of the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Education, “the purpose of the scheme is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.”
Also, the award event started taking place every year on Teachers’ Day, September 5 which is also the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India since the mid-60s.
