By Jon Pebi Tato
MISHMI HILLS: Far within the valley in the deep dense tropical forest of Mishmi Hills lies a Natural Paradise, pristine, unmapped, and untouched for ages, now trekked and mapped by the bunch of trekkers who envisages it to be one of the bucket lists for many travellers and trekkers out there in the world, who would love to explore this paradise called "The Seven Lake". The more it sounds beautiful the difficult it is to reach, but time and again the human race have proved that everything in this world which was once believed to have been impossible has been made possible with resolute determination and a passion for their endeavor to travel, experience and decipher the undeciphered places of the earth. This article revolves around one of those destinations in Arunachal Pradesh which has now been mapped in the trekker's diary. The "Emudu Trekker" is the group that is responsible for unveiling these grandiose trails of the journey to the Paradise of the Mishmi Hills, the Idu-Mishmis in particular. As per one of the members of the trekkers, Jimu Mele who is also the Assistant Engineer at the urban development and housing department the expedition to the seven lakes had been taken since the year 2000, and few attempts had been made in the following years from 2016 to 2019, but all resulted in failure due to lack of experiences and trekking gears. It was in the recent years of 2020 and 2021 that the trekkers could finally set their foot in the region of far far away which one could have ever imagined.
Lao Tzu once quoted "The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step", viz Emudu Trekkers have set their foot in.
The Journey Begins:
The book of rule that every trekker must get embodied in their mind is that the journey is perilous and precarious. The Idu-Mishmis tradition is profoundly attached to mother nature since time immemorial, hence the trekkers while on their journey, ought to respect the Nature, and this cannot be overlooked.
One should be fit and ready to take the challenge of trekking into the deep dense tropical forest, however, the landscapes changes as the journey move ahead. According to the Emudu Trekkers, the trekkers shall witness grasslands on their first event and it shall continue to change viz The rain forest on the second day, rocky mountains on third and waterfalls and Base Camps on the fourth day and by the final day with the sense of having reached and witnessed the breathtaking lakes, the trek shall have been believed as accomplished.
