In just 16 overs, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler added an unbroken 170 runs for the first wicket to advance England to the championship game.
Rohit Sharma's Team India was playing against Jos Buttler-led England in the second semifinal of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).
The match started with Jos Buttler winning the toss and England opting to bowl first.
Rohit Sharma acknowledged his dissatisfaction with the team's performance on the day in a post-game interview. He said that managing pressure in knockout games is the key, and he also mentioned that the players in the Indian Premier League have a lot of experience playing in those conditions (IPL).
"Pretty disappointed how it turned out today. We batted well at the back end to get that score. We were not upto the mark with the ball, we couldn't turn up today. It's all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that. These guys have played under pressure in IPL games, it's all about keeping calm."
He further praised the England openers for their outstanding effort in the semifinal game and said:
"We were nervy to start with, but you got to give credit to their openers, they played really well. I thought it swung a bit in the first over, but not from the right areas. We know the runs are scored square of the wicket, we were aware about it. When we won the first game, it showed a lot of character. The game against Bangladesh, it was a tricky one. I thought we held our nerve and kept executing our plans. Couldn't do that today," Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
England will face off Pakistan at the finals of T20 World Cup on November 13, 2022 (Sunday) from 1:30 pm.
