The unveiling ceremony was done in a virtual mode by the PM. The colours of the logo draws inspiration from that of the Indian National flag i.e., it has the saffron, white and green, blue.

The zero in the G20 is like a lotus l, India's national flower holding the Planet Earth. While "the lotus flower reflects growth amid challenges, the Earth reflects India's pro- planet approach to life, one in perfect harmony in nature. And below the logo is “Bharat”, written in the Devanagari script."

The theme of India’s G20 Presidency - “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth One Family One Future". This is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad.

The theme essentially emphasises the importance of all life—human, animal, plant, and microorganism—as well as their interdependence on Earth and across the universe.

The theme also spotlights LiFE meaning Lifestyle for Environment, with its associated, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices made, both at the level of individual lifestyles as well as national development, leading to globally transformative actions which will result in a cleaner, greener and bluer future.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister informed that India will preside over the G20 Presidency from December 1.

He said, "it's a historic opportunity for India. I congratulate all the countrymen on this occasion.

The Prime Minister said G-20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation representing around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the worldwide trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.

The Prime Minister calls this a momentous occasion and said the Presidency of G-20 during the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a matter of pride for every Indian.

The Prime Minister says he is happy over the growing interest and activities about the G-20 and related events.

Earlier, the government organised a contest for the logo design for the citizens of the country and received an enthusiastic response with over 2000 submissions.

The Prime Minister in regard to this, thanked everyone for their support and said that these suggestions are becoming the face of the global event.

He remarks that the G-20 logo is not just any logo, it is a message, a feeling that runs in India’s veins.

It is a resolution that has been constantly on our minds through "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," he stated. He continued by saying that the G-20 logo represents the idea of global brotherhood.

The lotus in the logo represents India's ancient culture, belief, and way of thinking, the PM added.

The Prime Minister stated that the Adwait philosophy, which emphasises the interconnectedness of all living things, will be a tool for resolving today's disputes. Many important messages from India are represented by the logo and theme.

 “Message of Buddha for freedom from war, Mahatma Gandhi’s solutions in the face of violence, through G-20, India is giving them a new height”, he said.

The Prime Minister said that India’s G-20 presidency is coming at a time of crisis and chaos. He emphasised that conflicts, a great degree of economic instability, and the aftermath of a disruptive once-in-a-century global pandemic are all issues that the globe is currently dealing with.

 “The lotus in the logo of G-20 is a symbol of hope in such tough times,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister, this upcoming summit is more than just a diplomatic gathering. India views it as a new duty and as the world's trust in it. "This Summit presents us with the opportunity to showcase our developmental strides aimed at furthering global good", PM tweeted.

India will host over 200 meetings in 32 different sectors throughout the course of its G20 Presidency at various places all throughout the nation. The G20 Summit, which India will host in September 2023, would be one of the most important international events ever held in the nation..

Following are the members of G20- Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union. Spain is also invited as a permanent guest.

During its presidency, India has hosted guests from Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.

Global macroeconomic policies, infrastructure funding, international financial architecture, sustainable finance, financial inclusion, health finance, international taxes, and financial sector reforms are the eight focus areas of the G20's finance track.

When India assumes the G20 Presidency, new digital payment mechanisms including crypto-assets and crypto-currencies are expected to be a major part on the finance track's agenda.

The anti-corruption, agriculture, digital economy, employment, ecology and climate, education, energy transformation, health, and trade and investment will be the main topics of the sherpa track.
