Ke-meh-ha a Festival of Idu Mishmis celebrated in few pockets owing to the Covid-19 Pandemic
ROING: Every year on this month of September end, the Idu-Mishmi tribe of Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley celebrates one of their prominent festival viz "Ke-meh-ha". Since the uprise of the covid-19 Pandemic in the year 2020, the Mishmi hills have not yet witnessed any celebration in a grandiose manner as such.
What is Ke-meh-ha?
Ke-Meh-Ha is another important festival of Idu-Mishmi. Ke-Meh-Ha means ingestion of newly harvested rice. This ritual also used to be performed at the individual level to appease the goddess of prosperity. It is celebrated on 24th September every year. This festival is celebrated after the harvesting of rice and celebrated with traditional pomp and gaiety.
