People of Northeast are known for their love for sports, their enthusiasm for sports is quite evident across the nation. 


Many popular sports person from NE are not just popular in India but are internationally acclaimed. 


Other than cricket, boxing, people of NE are crazy when it comes to football. In every single house, there is either a boy or a girl who is a football fan or even plays football like a pro.


However, the lack of guidance, an academy makes them just a household name. 


To overcome such a situation, the government of India and Northeast is trying their best to bring out the best in these players by establishing a football or sports academy.


And such a similar decision to bring as many football players as possible, Bollywood actor and the owner of NorthEast United FC, John Abraham alomg with Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma has come up with an idea to establish a North East United Football Academy in Shillong.


The news was confirmed by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma through his social media handle, 'X', saying,  “Always a pleasure to meet the ever-charming @TheJohnAbraham. Discussed collaboration to establish a North East United Football Academy in Shillong. Look forward to exciting things ahead.”


In response, John Abraham retweeted CM Sangma’s tweet and expressed his pleasure in meeting CM Sangma and their upcoming project. 


“Always a pleasure to meet you @SangmaConrad. Looking forward to the centre of excellence in football and sport in Shillong very soon!!” Abraham tweeted.
