Indian Chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa beats world champion Magnus Carlsen.

17 year old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa beats world chess champion Magnus Carlsen at the FTX Crypto Cup, the American finale of the Champions Chess Tour, in Miami.

This is Praggnanandhaa's third consecutive win in six months against the Norwegian chess champion.

In the final match, Rameshbabu defeated Carlsen in three games in a row in the blitz playoffs, creating history in the world of chess.

Magnus was on the verge of winning but "he blunders against Praggnanandhaa just when he was on the verge of forcing Armageddon", - writes Chess 24.

However, Magnus Carlsen stood in the first position, while Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa secures second position due to higher scores of Carlsen in the previous matches of the championship.

Praggnanandhaa started off smoothly and won the first game. But lost two matches, back to back. The first to Quang Liem Le, the Vietnamese contender, and Jan-Krzystof Duda, his Polish counterpart. Duda seized the lead from Praggnanandhaa after winning the first game.

The next two games were drawn matches, Praggnanandhaa won the fourth to tie the positions. The Polish player then won both tie-break rounds to claim a 4-2 victory.

Earlier, Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen in an online chess match, the Airthings Masters rapid chess competition where Carlsen lost to Praggnanandhaa, then only 16.
