Assam's Chayan Dutta to lead launch control of Chandrayaan-3.
Assam's scientist Chayan Dutta, an alumnus of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Tezpur University is going to lead the launch control of Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Dutta is currently working as a Scientist/Engineer-G at UR Rao Satellite Centre, Department of Space and at the same times, is heading the position of Deputy Project Director, leading the "On Board Command Telemetry, Data Handling & Storage System, Lander, Chandrayaan-3" project.
The command and data handling subsystem is considered the “brains” of the Spacecraft and is responsible for controlling all its functions.
As reported by Pratidin Time, Dutta, expressing his gratitude and excitement, said, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been entrusted with the responsibility. This mission represents a significant milestone for our nation and the global scientific community.”
Chandrayaan-3 which is scheduled to be launched from Sriharikota, today, on July 14, will make "India the fourth country to land its Spacecraft on the surface of the Moon", said Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, on Sunday.
The Chandrayaan 3 primary objectives are threefold, a) to demonstrate Safe and Soft Landing on Lunar Surface b) to demonstrate Rover roving on the moon and c) to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.
Chandrayaan 3 is a follow-up mission on Chandrayaan 2 which was launched in 2019.
