An Aspirant | The burning Midnight oil | A crossing age | Corrupts triumphs | A Breakthrough |

By Jon Pebi Tato

It is not an unknown fact that the corrupt have always found their ways to their triumph. But their dubious nature and odoriferous exercises in the past 10 years have always been caught. State Government has time & again bestowed its vociferous assurance, quoting Plato, "Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws"

It was not long ago when HCM Pema Khandu said: "I am confident that the APSSB will stand true to its objective and ensure selection of the most deserving and meritorious candidates "

This was when the prestigious recruitment institute viz "Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board" (APSSB) was introduced.

Its introduction in the year 2018-19 gave a ray of hope to the entire aspiring candidates all over the state. It ended the corrupt departmental recruitment system, paving the way for a revolution in recruitment.

The Scrupulous action of the government & the unending applause from the masses abruptly ended when the "cash for jobs" scam was deciphered. A revolution that ignited wings of fire to the candidates had just got into the deep water.

People asserted that "Today we have cellphones and growing awareness, because of which we are able to nab the culprits involved in the cash for jobs scamsbut what about the past recruitments? will there be any investigations?

The Arunachal Pradesh Service Commission (APPSC) often entitled "Temple of recruiting institute" had already experienced fiascos over the alleged malicious practices. The history of its corruption remained undeciphered due to the lack of awareness and quiescent citizens but not for so long.

The year 2013 APCS batch was the genesis of the permanent ink that was spilled upon the most prestigious body, in the year 2015, it faced an unprecedented allegation over the mains paper. The government was forced to bring some changes yet again in the 2017 APCS batch the fiasco was repeated in a much larger manner.

The year 2022 had flashbacked many aspirants of all the alleged fiascos and controversies, the five people who have been arrested might face a few years of imprisonment but who will be responsible for the hundreds of hardworking aspirants, who burnt their midnight oil to live their dream, to bring a smile on their families but now have crossed their age limit, wherein several hundred are on their brink.

The discontentment among the candidates is growing unprecedentedly, and the words of promises and assurance from the authority and the government have become nothing but "All hat & no cattle".

No doubt the Commission has produced hundreds of able & learned officers to serve society but there is also no dearth of evidence that thousands have become the victim of the corrupt system.

"How many protests, dharnas, and ultimatums from the candidates are needed to make the system exercise in a productive manner? How many officers would go to jail? how many more lives of candidates will the system destroy?" a candidate questioned

.

The scam of AE Examination might have shaken many tables & rumbled the chairs in offices, but the question remains, will the scam bring forth some fruitful changes? will the corrupt practices end? will a candidate be able to give a fair examination"?
